Situated on Level 2 of the Barbican Centre, this is the largest of the City's lending libraries. As well as an excellent general library there are strong arts, children's and music sections plus, within the general library, specialist collections of crime fiction, finance (including the Library of the Society of Technical Analysts), and the history of London.

Free public internet access is available and a DVD library offers classic performances from the worlds of film, theatre, television, opera and dance, as well as feature films. There are substantial selections of books in large print and spoken word recordings; a delivery service is provided for elderly and disabled City residents.

The Library has a vibrant programme of events and activities all year round including reading groups, literary events and children's activities
