The original Library at Guildhall was founded in the 1420s under the terms of the will of Richard Whittington. Today it is a major public reference library specialising in the history of London, especially the City, and incorporates the Guildhall Library Bookshop and the Clockmakers' Museum, several hundred watches, clocks and marine chronometers illustrating the story of timekeeping and the history of clock making in London. Access to some specialist collections is not available at certain times in the day so please check the website for details before visiting
