Open: weekdays throughout the year; weekends Apr-Sept, 8am-7pm
Finsbury Circus will be closed from March 2010 (although some parts of the garden will still be accessible to the public) due to the Crossrail development. The works are prodicted to last for seven years.
This popular garden, which is on the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, was originally part of the Finsbury Manor Estate. Today it is the largest of the City's gardens with an area of 2.2 hectares. As well as colourful planting, pretty hedges and wooden benches, Finsbury Circus is home to the City's only bowling green, constructed in 1925. During the Second World War the green was used as a site to anchor barrage balloons. Visitors in search of culture can enjoy some open air summer jazz in Finsbury Circus during the City of London Festival.
