This fragrant garden situated within the remains of Bastion 13 of the City Wall is managed by the City of London along with Liveryman Dr Arthur Hollman. The garden was created by the Worshipful Company of Barber Surgeons, who wanted to present a broad view of the way in which plants have been used from the earliest times to the present day in the practice of medicine and surgery. It now contains around 45 different species of herb, plants which were grown to treat of wounds, bruises and burns.
The two trees to the left of the Bastion were planted in 2002. The nearest, a yellow Magnolia, commemorates the Golden Jubilee of the present Queen, and the other, a winter-flowering cherry, is in memory of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
