Although the location might seem unlikely – back-to-back with the Old Bailey, where serious murder trials take place – this garden is a peaceful oasis in the busy City. It was transformed in 2004 from a dense and overgrown shrubbery to a Mediterranean haven with corkscrew cypresses mirroring the shape of the charming colonnade. A pink granite seat and slate path make it a wholly pleasant place to take a break.
