The gallery at Morley College opened in 1968 as part of the Arts Centre at Morley College for part-time Adult Education. The Centre, situated in an old pub opposite the main building, has studios above the gallery and an electronic music studio in the basement.

Morley College funds the gallery and it has a commitment to showing student work in the gallery every year in May to coincide with Adult Learners' Week. The Morley College Art Department Exhibition is followed by Morley Art Foundation students end of year exhibition.

The gallery shows between ten to twelve exhibitions a year and the programme includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, ceramics, textiles, installation and sound art by independent artists. There is no entrance fee to these exhibitions and artists' talks in the gallery are also free of charge. The gallery also curates monthly displays of work by the art department in display cases and on the landing.
