Few court cases take place during August and September recess Seat of the High Court and the Court of Appeal, this impressive building with its gothic towers and turrets houses some 88 courts to which the public are admitted, depending on whether the case is being held in Open Court (details of cases are published daily).

The building is interesting from both an architectural and historical perspective, the main attraction being its magnificent entrance hall with an Italian mosaic floor, gothic arches and stained glass windows. In addition, there is an exhibition of legal costumes and regalia on the first floor and numerous paintings and legal prints. The Bear Garden (which is a room!) is also worth a visit.
