Size: 76,000m² / 165 metres high
Developer: British Land

These two towers are the next phase of the Broadgate project, a 1980s mixed-use development which has transformed the area around Liverpool Street Station. Broadgate Tower is a 30-floor skyscraper standing at 165 metres tall and lying over railway lines heading into the station. Its entrance hall is five storeys high and each typical floor has 1,200m² of space uninterrupted by columns. From the top the view is 45km.

In contrast to this tall, glass tower, whose structural A-frames are visible along the stainless steel and glass façades, is the smaller and more fluidly shaped 201 Bishopsgate. Curving around the corner of Bishopsgate and Primrose Street, it is 13 storeys high and overlooks an open public plaza. Between the two structures is a covered sky-lit retail galleria. Together, the buildings cover 2.5 acres and are composed of 14,000 tonnes of steel, 877 steps and 40,000m² of glass cladding and provide 37,000m² of office space. The eco-credentials are good – the development emits nearly 40% less CO2 than buildings of the same scale.
