Until the 1980s Lombard Street played home to many banks, including Barclays, whose headquarters were formerly in this 19-storey Art Deco-inspired behemoth of a building. It has recently been refurbished by ORMS (2009) and is now known as 20 Gracechurch Street – it was formerly 54 Lombard Street – and features a new four-storey stone facade and retail space at ground and basement levels. The facelift also sees the addition of an urban courtyard and new entrance.
