Between 1pm and 4pm every Sunday the church is used by the Slovak community from all over London with their priest.
Everyone who enters this church remarks how peaceful and welcoming it feels. It was opened on the 2nd May 1861 to replace a nearby mission for refugees from the Irish famine, set up in 1848. For a hundred years it remained the church for people, mainly of Irish descent, working locally. Now the congregation comes from every part of the world. Although simple in design it contains several intriguing items of its past and recent history. The “Beautiful Lady” of La Salette had a simple message: Leave God out of your life, and everything will get out of gear. Increasingly this little church provides a spiritual haven for the local business community and the many visitors.
