To launch Celebrate the City: four days in the Square Mile in memorable style, Guildlhall Yard will host a performance of Tchaikovsky's thunderous 1812 Overture performed by students of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, absolutely free to the general public.

This famous piece of spine-tingling music was written in 1880 and tells the story of Napoleon's retreat from Russia in 1812 and climaxes with a volley of cannon fire, ringing chimes, and brass fanfare.

Don't miss the chance to be a part of this special event on Midsummer Day in the shadow of the 600 year-old Guildhall with the Lord Mayor of the City of London in attendance.

The evening also includes a performance from office and community choirs.
