Held just outside the City of London in one of the capital's vibrant farms, this annual horticultural show brings the countryside to the town. Stalls include those giving healthy living and nutritional advice, alternative therapies, info on recycling, composting and growing your own food, biodiversity and sustainability workshops. There's also a market selling arts and crafts, plants and home-made cakes, organic food and drinks and Fairtrade goods.
Those with domestic creativity are invited to submit entries to the show, which takes place in a large marquee. There are 13 sections – from flower arranging and handicrafts to vegetable and herbs. Entries should arrive at 9am and judging takes place at 11am. Prizes are presented at 4pm including the Individual Champion’s Cup, the Group Champion’s Cup and the Junior Champion’s Cup. At 4.15pm all uncollected entries will be auctioned and funds raised will go towards supporting next year’s show.
Spitalfields City Farm will be open for refreshments, donkey rides, visiting the animals and touring the garden run by the Bangladeshi women of the Coriander Club.
