To celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Guildhall, you'll find plenty of events with an historic twist taking place in 2011. One such are these Roman gladiatorial combats organised by the Museum of London. The event hopes to transport visitors back to ancient Londinium when titans would clash here and marks the history of the site from the period of the first built structure there, the Roman Amphitheatre (open to visitors and under the Guildhall Art Gallery).

An hour before each show there will be an opportunity to see Londinium brought to life with recreated street scenes featuring everyday Roman Londoners from soldiers and slaves to doctors and musicians. Please note, this event aims to present a realistic portrayal of combat in the Roman amphitheatre and as such contains scenes of graphic violence and simulated bloodshed. May not be suitable for younger children.
