This is the first major exhibition in over 30 years devoted to Victorian artist John Atkinson Grimshaw. It charts his varied career, from early Pre-Raphaelite style paintings to the tiny atmospheric oils of his later years and examines the personal tragedies that shaped his work. The show brings together over 50 major works from public and private collections.
Lisa Dracup’s photographs created in response to the paintings are also on display (free entry). A curator tour (free with entry fee) takes place on 28 September at 12.30pm.
