Visitor Information

These houses at Cloth Fair show a quieter alternative to the bustling City, set as they are along a fairly domestic street. The area gives a feeling of how alive the whole City of London once was before it was changed by money, fire and war – a place where long-established institutions, trades, houses, markets and people of all kinds mingled together. Each of the houses has a staircase, pleasant rooms and old joinery. Number 43 was once home to the poet Sir John Betjeman.
