The City offers some unique shopping experiences; from the magnificent 18th-century Royal Exchange with its luxury brands to Leadenhall Market with its mix of shops, Victorian ironwork and cobbled alleyways. There are the vibrant and colourful markets on the City’s eastern borders too, the renowned Borough Market just over the river and the world-famous Hatton Garden for jewellery just to the west. Whatever you're after, that special something, old style market stalls or a little retail therapy away from the hustle and bustle of the high street, the City has the answer.
The listings in this section focus on markets and shopping hubs; individual shops are not listed.
The Backyard Market, located in the Truman Brewery, opened its doors in the Spring of 2007, offering something new from younger creatives working in arts and crafts. The market includes an enticing selection of retro homewares and vintage items, home-made food and an abundance of other 'backyard' treasures.
Historic Borough Market is one of the only remaining wholesale and retail markets left in central London. Housed in a listed and refurbished Victorian building, it is located on the south side of London Bridge close to Southwark Cathedral. The acclaimed fine food market, which is open to the general public, features an exciting range of international specialist food and wine stalls.
