London apothecaries were originally members of another livery company, the Grocers', and together these tradesmen can be traced back to the Guild of Pepperers, an association formed in the City in 1180. By 1316, the Pepperers had been joined by the Spicers. The Great Hall here has a 24-branch candelabrum suspended from the ceiling, presented to the Society by Sir Benjamin Rawling, who was Sheriff of London and Master in 1736. The windows on the east and west sides of the Hall contain stained glass Coats of Arms of Past Masters and former Officers of the Society, and portraits hang on the walls. The room is suitable for formal dinners, lunches, receptions, buffets/cocktail parties, presentations/lectures and conferences/examinations.
The smaller Court Room and Parlour Room are suitable for meetings, seminars, workshops, presentations,
small luncheons, small dinners and private parties.
