Dr Johnson’s House is a beautifully restored early eighteenth-century townhouse complete with period interiors and many original features including panelled rooms, wooden floor boards and an open staircase. Samuel Johnson lived and worked in this house from 1748 to 1759 and it was in the Garret that he famously compiled his Dictionary of the English Language. The house is situated over four floors and the rooms provide an atmospheric and convivial environment for a range of events from intimate dinners to champagne receptions to lecture and seminar rooms.
